Leeds Conservatoire has been working with the Music in the Round team on a number of programmes and initiatives throughout the month of May. Leeds Conservatoire plans to apply to the Office for Students for Degree Awarding Powers. If we are granted Degree Awarding Powers, your degree may be awarded by Leeds Conservatoire rather than validated by the University of Hull. A minimum of three GCSEs including English Language at Grade C / Grade 4 or above or equivalent international qualification, eg IELTS 6.0 (5.5 in each component).
Management skills will be addressed by modules covering classic management theory, how to develop as a music entrepreneur and how to manage creative talent. Youâll also spend time focusing on legal issues such as intellectual property and music industry contracts. You will also be encouraged to develop other key skills such as communication and negotiation to allow you to demonstrate a portfolio of relevant skills to equip you to successfully enter the music business. Youâll investigate a range of contemporary issues in the management of organisations, and will develop techniques for devising solutions to situations faced by modern groups and businesses. Youâll also gain an awareness of the macro, meso and micro situational factors that can affect the effectiveness of managers and their organisations. In your final year, youâll learn about contracts and intellectual property from specialist music and entertainment lawyers, MBA graduates and business mentors.
The series will include industry expert lectures, group workshops and group working, in order to test and explore industry sectors. In this unit you will discover the theories, the personalities, and the good, the bad and the ugly of this craft. You will learn how to produce press releases, boiler plates and building compelling stories and how to pitch them. You will be introduced to the concepts, theories and models utilised in marketing and communications, providing the basis for further study within the course.
