Over the past few years we have organised many diverse events ranging from political debates to lectures and talks with a great variety of guest speakers. In addition to organising entertaining academic and social events for our members, we organise international politically focused trips. Course fees cover your teaching as well as other academic services and facilities provided to support your studies. Unless specified in the additional information section below, course fees do not cover your accommodation, residential costs or other living costs. They also don’t cover any additional costs and charges that are outlined in the additional information below. Acting and Solo Performance focuses on acting as an independent creative practice and offers you the opportunity to conceive, develop and realise your Theatre Making 3 projects as solo, autonomous performers.

These courses may have been suggested due to their similarity with this course, or because they are offered by the same department or faculty. The alumni programme is now underway and includes an annual publication (‘Inspires’), a website forum, alumni networks and tailored events. This option focuses on the creative interaction between writing, dramaturgy, directing and performance – from generating written text to the live theatrical event.

Alternative accepted qualifications

Site-specific Performance focuses on the place of performance as a starting point for your independent projects and considers the role of the performance site (its history, architecture, socio-political context) in shaping those projects. You’ll be encouraged to take risks and push the boundaries of contemporary site-specific performance making and thinking whilst engaging critically and creatively with the genre. The option aims to provide the space to build on your previous learning, to broaden your understanding of contemporary performance making, and to develop a critical and practical understanding of site-specific performance practices/histories.

  • This will include informal reflections on key sources, methodologies, and observations/interactions with the Company.
  • In addition, students will undertake a dissertation – SPCC Applied Research Project , with the possibility of working on a project defined by a public or private sector stakeholder.
  • Workshops will use interactive learning techniques to explore the ethical and aesthetic issues that artists and arts organisations consider when designing, delivering and evaluating projects.
  • You will have the possibility of working on a dissertation research project for a public or private sector partner, gaining crucial experience to further your career aspirations.

The term one and two compulsory modules provide theoretical understanding of debates in geo- and environmental politics with consideration of how these translate in practice. Optional modules enable you to apply these debates to more specific empirical topics. Dissertation planning commences in term two, with the research and writing conducted in term three and the summer. This module will provide you with a historical overview of alternative theatre practices in Britain since 1968.

It’s not currently possible for international students to study part-time if you require a Student Visa, however this is currently being reviewed and will be confirmed in the new year. An advantage of this model is that it draws on the expertise of the department of Theatre and Performance in facilitating students’ academic development and of the Work Placement Manager in working on their personal development.

MPhil in Politics European Politics and Society

You also have access to theBodleian Library, which is one of five copyright libraries within the UK and as such is entitled to receive a copy of every work that is published or distributed in the UK. It also contains an extensive collection of manuscripts and original source materials. Books cannot be borrowed from the Bodleian and must instead be consulted within one of its reading rooms.
